Lumia HMI combines Edge and Web HMI in a single, smart device. One order code, two operating modes to choose from, and the freedom to adapt instantly to production needs—from initial setup to everyday maintenance.
Flexibility, Scalability, and Security with Lumia HMI
As hybrid architectures become increasingly common in industrial plants, the need for HMI interfaces that adapt to different scenarios—without adding complexity to machine fleet management—is growing rapidly. To address this, ESA Automation & Robotics developed Lumia HMI, a versatile solution that allows seamless switching between Edge HMI and Web HMI through a single control panel.
The benefits are immediate: just one order code and the ability to configure the device according to the plant’s architecture. At first startup, the programmer selects the operating mode, while still retaining the option to return to the selection page via a hidden command reserved for technicians and inaccessible to the end user.
Another advantage concerns software licensing. Licenses are only required for Edge HMI, but remain valid even if the device is temporarily switched to Web HMI. This makes it easy to handle emergency situations, such as replacing a faulty panel, while ensuring operational continuity and reducing costs.
Lumia HMI is built on a web-driven paradigm that combines openness, flexibility, scalability, and security:
- Openness: accessible via any standard browser, with no plug-ins required.
- Flexibility: compatible with both Windows and Linux systems.
- Scalability: SVG graphics and responsive design for optimal display on any screen size.
- Security: continuous updates of web technologies, backed by an active global community.
With Lumia HMI, ESA Automation & Robotics offers a practical yet forward-looking tool, designed to simplify HMI systems while supporting the transition of industrial plants toward increasingly open, connected, and future-proof architectures.
